This book looks like it's way better constructed than I expected. Layers. Motivations. Misgivings. A good pick so far.

Nothing anchors me into a setting more than water cutters, apparently. Snap! There I was in the machine shop, walking across the oil-soaked wood floors, smell of cutting oil and metal chips in my nose, weaving between the water cutter and 3D printers and CNC lathe booths, weighing whether to distract the machinists from their programming.

A four page infodump? Daring. I wonder what makes it work for one author but not another. Or is this audience more accepting?

What sounded on the cover like it might be a shallow cyberpunk romance already demonstrates an author capable of inverting tropes and drawing in complex family dynamics. I'm not sure the prologue was necessary, but I am sure this is going to be better than I thought. #forgedfamily #compositefamily #ifengineersruled #makerfantasy
