Wavy curls sprung loose from an untidy braid, framing her perfectly manicured, heart-shaped face.

Is it possible to manicure a face?

She ground her teeth, reigning in her impatience.

Now begs the question. Is she now ruling her impatience or should she be reining in her impatience like one reins in a horse? Cute video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euGG7s...

Would look good with that quivering cleavage, don't you think??

Misfit Hah! Actually this would be a much better book after a go-over from a good editor.

With a visual like that, I can only think of this:

Catie Sad when a potentially good book is let down by bad or (more commonly these days) non-existent editing :((

Haha - if you could find a picture of Kenny Everett as Cupid Stunt, that would be about right. Something like this perhaps:

Oh...my...goodness...
Thankfully, this is not a program that we Yanks have been offered on BBC America!

Oh dear, I forgot that would not have been familiar to you! Believe it or not that was mainstream British TV when I was young. Children watched it. Not really sure how he got away with it...

Misfit I'm with Hannah. Better left unseen.

PS, see latest update. Now the lips are manicured. Oy veh.

lol! I don't think that show would have gone down too well here for the kids, but adults might have been amused. Didn't Benny Hill do that kind of thing, or am I thinking of Dame Edna instead?

Anyway, doesn't GB have a tradition of female inpersonators being popular? I seem to recall reading something about that facet of the British personality in one of those books for Americans looking to understand the English (I'm always trying to understand you guys better, for when I finally visit so I won't act like a rube!).

Well, here's hoping the author stays on the facial area. I'm getting worried that they'll "head south", and I really don't want to know at that point :D

Oh, my, I'll have to be more careful about opening links that Catie posts. Can you imagine those quivering? *don't think about it!*

Now who's bad??? :D\
Yes we do have a long history with the female impersonators and the drag queens and the smutty humour. All done, as Kenny would have said "In the best POSSIBLE taste".

Catie Misfit wrote: "Now the lips are manicured. Oy veh."

I'd better not even start on that!

You don't have to imagine - scout around on youtube and I'm sure you can find footage from the show!
I am sorry if anyone was shocked but really we already knew we would be looking at a bearded "lady" didn't we?

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

I wasn't shocked! lol I watch anime, and read manga. The Japanese have made cross-dressing a true art form.

Good point. Cross dressing is nothing to people who change species at the flip of a coin...

lol And how about those Visual Kei bands. I'll post a picture after dinner.

Ah, the great Cuddly Ken. There were a couple of documentaries on about him recently; my kids thought he was hysterical :) I used to listen to him every week - the man was a genius.

I'm sure he'd have had a giggle about the quivering cleavage...

Catie Caz wrote: "I'm sure he'd have had a giggle about the quivering cleavage...."

Absolutely. Didn't see the documentaries; shame. But I have fond memories of his shows on radio and TV and the beard and cleavage combo just brought him so sharply to mind.
