Okay, I just finished the second book of this triolgy, "The Shadow City", and it was very intense. I don't know if it was because children were being killed in, quite, gruesome ways despite the bravery of some of the kids. Yes, it's monstrous! Love stories and magic aren't my usual cup of tea, and anything with kids in it snuffs out my interest quickly, but I will finish this because it is well written.
