I've been looking for a good Islamic History book for agessss and this one's amazing. It begins from before Islam and covers all the major and minor Islamic Dynasties all over the world. It's concise, informative and written well. I'd totally recommend it to you 🙃
this looks so good! have u read when the moon split (literally read it 4 times for pleasure!) or raheeq al makhtoom (although im sure you've heard of it before)? :)
I have When The Moon Split but I didn't read it. But now that you're telling me its good I'll read it soon 💁♀️. The pile of books next to my bed is insanity rn 🤦♀️.
You can order it online from the publishers because they're UK based. I did that and the postage was free
Ohh ok. ur in the uk? Oh my gosh, SIS, when the moon split is actually my FAVOURITE book. you know how on my blog I say "it's impossible to pick a favourite book!!" I say that because I don't even feel like that book belongs on a blog post or a list with all the other fictional trash I read (because let's be real, 99% of what I read is fictional trash, its great, we all love it, but its trash). I feel like if I put that book on one of those lists I would literally be degrading it to some degree if that makes sense. It would be disrespecting it, because it's such an amazing and beautiful book and I have read it 4 times and I absolutely love it. Obviously, the main reason it's so good is because of the content, and the beautiful seerah and all the Islamic history. Actually that's the only reason haha. But it's written in such a clear and easy to read manner and I'm just a sucker for ALL Islamic history because it's just the most beautiful thing in the world and I'm sure you can agree that the depth to it all is just so amazing and how we can derive so much from just one event!! I'm ranting now, but seriously, go 👏 and 👏 pick 👏 it 👏 up 👏 this 👏 instant 👏 and you won't regret it! Especially if you're a lover of Islamic history, and basically all things Islamic like me 💕😊❤️
and also, just to add to what I said, so much of what I read is fictional stories is because I tend to read when I have done everything else I need to do and all, and so by then my brain cells just don't have any energy and the only thing my brain can cope with is some story that isn't real and it's just like a light thing, if you get what I mean? Like I can't read deep stuff at that time because it will just be lost and wasted on me because I'll be so tired it just won't sink in properly and I like to read Islamic books when my brain is 100% charged and I can fully appreciate it, you know? So come the summer holidays, i have so many intentions to delve into so many of the books we have about Islam and I'm going to take my time 😊 In fact, if I'm honest with you, I don't read much Islamic books as such, as I just said, but do watch a lot of videos and listen to podcasts 😊
Nope, but my Aunty lives in England I have anything and everything posted to her for free and she brings it to me in SA. 🙈So finally someone who understands and shares my sentiments.....😌
I honestly love fiction so much but in the end, it really is rubbish 🤷♀️
I absolutely love Islamic history. It's so beautiful and in-depth and when you read and listen to those stories, it's so pure and different and I just adore reading it. The past was truly a golden era. I’ve only read half of this book but I’ve learnt so much already. 😍😍😍
I actually just came back from Jordan and Jerusalem and the Islamic history there is beyond anything I imagined. Reading this book helped me soo much on my trip because I’d already read about all the Umayyad Caliphs and the Conquerers who impacted those places.
Haha don't worry, your ranting worked and I'm definitely convinced to read it. 💁♀️
Yeah, I understand what you mean. I read fiction purely for leisure. In fact, I started reading this book at the beginning of this year and I’ve been reading it super slowly and only when I’m focused. It’s so concise, so you have to really concentrate because by missing out one fact, your mental timeline messes up.
Being frank and honest, sometimes I find Islamic books studious and because I’m so used to reading for leisure, I feel put off because it's not exactly entertaining. Idk if you get me?
Sadly, I didn’t read many Islamic books either but I've changed that in the past year and I’ve read quite a few amazing books. If you’d like some recommendations, let me know 🙃
Lol, I can relate! I live abroad and all my family lives in England (plus im from there) so whenever they come we order a bunch of stuff and they actually bring extra suitcases for us 😂I AGREE!!! It makes me so sad cos I feel like this world does not appreciate it enough 😭 and from ACCURATE sources where the history is actually real and not completely twisted and just rubbish if you know what I mean 😊 always makes me so sad when I see people are reading stuff like that...
oh my gosh, you're so blessed!! that's really my dream one dayyyy 😍😍 I'm sure it was so beautiful I have friends who are from Palestine. I honestly want to go so bad.
I get you, but personally if I have the brain power for it I'm always down for an Islamic book because they're honestly so interesting and enlightening and I come out with not just more knowledge that I can apply to my own life but just a renewed passion for my faith, not that it ever decreases, honestly all thanks to God it just increases, and Islamic reading really helps that which is so lovely.
SIS YOU DON'T NEED TO ASK!!! I am so down for more recommendations I need them. Also, the reason I don't read that many Islamic books is because when I'm feeling like spending time on my faith if you get what I mean, I just read/revise/memorise my Quran, because I do have Quran lessons three times a week anyway 😊💕
