I don't usually share my blog posts on Goodreads, but today I wrote about some Twitter drama and I'd love to know your opinion!

Malorie (Firereader) I agree with you 100%. I didn't find his comments rude or even argumentative. He was simply asking a question that I'm sure many people were thinking already. It looks to me like one possibility is the negative emails she received got to her and she took his questions the wrong way and blew it way out of proportion. If you say one thing (this is only available on pre-order and won't be available at all after) and then do another (make it available to purchase 6 months later), you're going to make some people mad and you have to be smart enough to realize that and understand that your fans' feelings on that are valid. Should they harass her? No! That is childish and calling out someone who hasn't done anything wrong is just as bad. This is a good example of why I have ignored my Facebook for a while now. I should be on all my social media promoting my blog and reviews but the drama I see people drive gets exhausting.

Thank you so much! I totally agree that the drama on social media is exhausting. I rarely use Twitter aside from automatically sharing my blog posts, mostly because the drama of it all stresses me out.

Everything you've said here is so great. There are so many layers to this, and removing the exclusivity from the novella is honestly the least of my concerns. That was annoying, sure, but her directly calling someone out in a rant about harassment when all he did was make a pretty innocuous comment is just... too much for me. It's absolutely not right for fans to harass her, but it's also not right for her to open someone up to attacks from her fans.

I'm mostly just having a hard time believing that this happened to someone I actually know, though I'd like to think I'd be equally upset about it if it were someone I'd never spoken to before. But, anyway, thank you again for the nice words!

Malorie (Firereader) So you knew the guy she quoted for her harassment claim? You did an excellent job being impartial! I never would have guessed you knew him. I would like to think I would've handled it as well as you but I probably would've said something smart-alecky in response unfortunately...

Thank you! I wanted to be as calm and rational as possible, so I'm really glad that I came across as impartial. After so many of her fans blindly jumped to her defense, the last thing I wanted was for it to look like I was blindly jumping to my friend's defense.
