At this point he realizes that he has invested too much time, effort, and sweat to give up now. In a sense he’s a slave to a bloodsport where broken arms and shattered ribs are normal, but in another way he realizes it is what he truly enjoys doing, he no longer fights for anyone, but himself, because why would you fight for someone who doesn’t care.

At this point, Protagonists Meguru begins to question what its all for. Why is he working so hard in a sport that others perceive as weird, unorthodox, and geeky. Why is he sweating and bleeding every week for a tournament where he has a 25 percent chance at winning. He realizes that despite all of this, his family, friends, and even teammates who he thought would be proud for him never cared in the first place
