The authors is clearly an advocate for engaging the incarcerated with liberal arts.
Knowing that prison is rooted in slavery and has grown in terms of over incarcerating poor people of color is a travesty and should be the shame of our nation. Racism is robbing people of the opportunity to uplift themselves and fighting a portion of that racism is investing in people who temporarily cannot help themselves.
