I will read anything Barbara Hambly writes, and I’m always happy to check in on Benjamin January and his family, they’re old friends. Ben lives in a world of violence and prejudice, where his right to freedom frequently hangs by a thread. This can make for a fraught read, but the ease of the writing, the humour and the characterisations make it worthwhile.
