Decided to stop reading "The Dreaming Void" (2007) by Peter F. Hamilton because the prose are so bad, the characters so bland, and the setting so alienating. Wanting to read good science fiction story I reached for "Inherit the Stars." Now THIS is what science fiction is all about.

This book just keeps getting better the more I read it. Each time through I find something new to appreciate.

My favorite part of the book is the middle; where everyone comes together and starts batting around ideas. Each question solicits brilliant work from the various scientists attempting to piece together the mystery. Hogan's genius is to bring the reader along every step of the way. Wonderful stuff. Having just finished a terrible book ("True Crime Addict" by James Renner) I'm glad to be reading a good book now.

Such a marvelous beginning. Every time I read this book I'm shocked all over again by the reveal of their find on the moon. It never gets old. Caldwell, Hunt, and Danchecker are brilliant, believable characters. Here is my casting. Caldwell = Charles S. Dutton. Hunt = Denzel Washington. Dancheker = Charles Dance.
