Why is Alyssa’s chest stinging when she’s worried about something? I’m guessing it means she’s worried, the book doesn’t actually say so!

People keep bending their eyebrows - what does that mean? So many sentences that make no sense.

A lot of arbitrary rules that don’t seem to make sense.

A sentence saying she inhaled and exhaled, really? I’m assuming everyone is doing that pretty much all the way through, or they would die.

The use of language is very strange. How do you brighten your eyes?
