No, actually it's a short enough story that it's not tedious at all. And there's a "break" in the middle that's pure Samuel Beckett, which makes things very interesting if you've read (and actually finished) Molloy, Malone Dies, and/or The Unnamable. It's a pretty intriguing piece, historically speaking, if a touch (and just a touch) pedantic. Kind of a weird mini-bridge between Victorian writing and modernism.
To be fair, many of the other pieces are pretty tedious.
