So far the world building is terrible - Hartman seems to be allergic to writing setting descriptions or even letting us know what time period this fantasy world resembles. She throws around geographic terms without ever really explaining them, and the protagonist tends toward Mary-Sueism; kind, talented and attractive to the prince, naturally! Yet despite this the plot and main conflict are enchanting and compelling.
