The Brigga Lin part seemed rushed. I felt more was needed to bond her and Hope together as allies. Which is sad, as her character is really growing on me, even though she’s only had maybe 3 chapters. But the fight is exciting. Gotta love Sadie. Her brutal honestly cracks me up

They’re forming a pirate crew, with all the good ole wags! I love this sort of coalescence of fun, side characters!
Interesting that this empire is made of islands. I suspected as much.

I like Alash. They better not kill him off. Good side characters are hard to come by. And using them as cannon fodder is never cool. Never.

The biomancer recognizes him? Another experiment? Or just the fact that he didn’t die from that disease? Did not see that coming at all. Didn’t expect the biomancer to be hanging out with Red’s family either, so... interesting stuff!

The book sis doing a good job of keeping the intensity up, but also taking breaks from the action for emotional beats. Very good pacing. I like how Red is struggling between his two worlds. As much as he says he loves his roguish nature, it’s clear even he isn’t falling for that anymore. And Hope is opening up more and more.

Simple as sideways, true as trouble. Love the expressions they use!

Like where the plot is going. The biomancers are creepy yet fascinating. Red’s misfit gang cracks me up, glad they’re still around. Wonder if Nettles will lead the circle if they succeed?

Hmmm... things are getting interesting. Now Red and Hope have a common goal. I like it.

Sadie lived. Did not expect that, but I’m happy. Red and Hope have a good rapport so far, and the swashbuckling adventure is entertaining. Really enjoying this novel.

The characters are a blast. Red and his gang are pure fun, and Hopes adventures are exciting. A bit lewd at times, but hey, it doesn’t detract from the fun. Love how unabashedly crooked Sadie is. The world building is intricate and the setting is excitingly unique. The creative weapons are interesting too.
