Wel, it's easy to read, if nothing else. But I can't say I'm hooked. The mystery is a bit all over the place, the investigation is all a trial (no solid theory behind it) and the insertions of the MC's life are distracting and unnecessary, they add nothing to the story.

The historical setting seems questionable too. Not only there are details I find hard to believe, but picturing the place and time is very hard.
