This copy is now due at the library. Page 109 of 323 (followed by citations/notes) feels satisfactory. A fun pair of lines in the closing chapter titled 'meditation' is as follows: "[...] we can easily focus the mind today by watching a good thriller on TV--but the mind is so concentrated on the movie that it cannot observe its own dynamics." (p.322) That is as good an argument as any for mindfulness meditation.
