How can Jack see Bea had strength and passion when she believed she’d lost her future, her innocence, her hopes and her dreams simply because she lost her husband.

The manner that Jack fell in love was tooooo shallow; no concrete process. The explanation was unconvincing.

It was because of pride that prevented Beatrice from asking for allowance increas from her in-laws. Now, look at what pride brought her? Near impoverishment. Pride won't feed you, you know.
