Alva Simon is a sailing legend, I read this book years ago and it sparked my imagination. As a more mature reader and sailor, I found Alva admittedly selfish with the risks he took sailing in the arctic at times recklessly disregarding the safety of his wife and his vessel. While a great adventure I think there are many lessons on what not to do as a sailor.
