I find it hard to read this because of so much loss and pain. Fantastic story so I will press on. Just slow going.

Nathanial has established the free state north of Hadrian's wall and the Fair-folk have made it obvious that they are preparing for war. An attack on a coastal village from Ireland draws Nathanial's attention and retribution is swift and complete. After some negotiating with the defeated leader, Nathanial and his troops cross the channel and find out that Ireland has been victimized by the Annilators, defeated.

Nathanial has tread a long and difficult path. He has made his way to the highlands, north of Hadrian's wall, and made a state, a free state. Of course, the Fair Folk attacked, and there were thousands lost on the free state side, but many more orcs and more. So exciting to watch the birth and growth of a nation, for that is what this will be. Book 3 done and into 4.

Finished the second book. Nathanial, now known as the Forever Man, which comes to him in living dreams, where he inhabits a past existence. The Druids seem to have a strong influence on him. Much of what he is learning in the past lives reflect what is going on in his current one.

I finished book one and into the next book. This story is of an unprecedented event, similar to to EMP (electronic magnetic pulse) attack, which disables all technology that is electronic or machine. Suddenly the world is back in the dark ages, having to rely on ancient technology to survive. In England Nathaniel Hogan is a marine at the US Embassy. He knows he has to leave and starts his journey.

I'm 15% done with Pulse #1: I find that I do love apocalyptic tales (favorite is Donna Augustine The Wilds) but I might have to make room for this story. There is violence aplenty, but not hopelessness. Nathanial is the hero. Great characters.
