1) I’m not too sure McAneny has ever seen humans before because Janie is described as “5’3 and 104 pounds”. I’m 5’2 and 120 and I’m pretty fit. With the amount of working out that Janie does (early morning push ups) she should weigh more in at least muscle.
2) the way Janie narrates is interesting. She’s formal in her internal dialogue and uses words not typically found in day-to-day speech.
