Ah,, the joys of the internet. People call you a vulgar, condescending bitch because they don't like your review....

Yeah, Congrats, Jilly! No but really, somebody who's spoiler averse to that degree, and who has even the slightest knowledge of social media, should have NO PROBLEM avoiding them. They were just trolling for drama.
Yup, Beth! I'm spoiler averse (even to the degree that someone else in that thread joked about at times lol) but that's on me. I will avoid reviews and anything even close to being about the book if I really don't want to know anything about it. To go reading reviews and then get shitty because someone dares to refer to the book is... stupid as hell. LOL
Lol. Your reviews are like my daily dose of laughter, ate Jilly. These people need to buy a sense of humor.
Thanks for all of the love, guys! It really doesn't mean that much when someone doesn't review themselves but crap all over those of us who do.
As always, there is a cake for this occasion. I don't know the person who was talking smack about your review, but I'm sure you can Photoshop:
Seriously. I consider this to be a sign your leveled up. You became famous enough to start attracting trolls.
P.S. I used to try reasoning with them, but these days they go straight to my block list. They are not worth spending your energy to.

Lol!!! Fucking Beth!
And no reference intended to the darling Beth above! Just the most appropriate cake for the occasion!
carol. wrote: "And no reference intended to the darling Beth above! Just the most appropriate cake for the occasion!"Too late, carol. Our cover has been blown. Beth is onto us.
If you piss someone off - especially without trying - it means you're doing something important.Keep at it.
Your reviews rock, and make me smile when I need one e.g. when marking a never ending stream of papers ;-)
I got called a snowflake *eye roll* because I voiced MY opinion on one of the series I used to read.I don't understand people attacking others who have a different opinion. You like it, great, I didn't. It is what it is.

LOL! That's awesome. Totally NOT snowflake-y at all to get their panties in a twist over someone having an opinion they don't agree with. Nope, not at all. YOU must be the snowflake for not loving everything exactly the same way they do.

It was crazy! She even said I must have never been in love before if I thought that. Like ok, lady, chill out.

Nice! Not just "Your opinion is wrong" but "Your life experiences are wrong". That's amazing. LOL
Honestly, I once got tbe equivalent to a C or D in a test, because my partner and I had a negative comment on the book the teacher gave us, so, it's not just the internet, I guess
Internet Fame: people having a hissy fit over a review posted by a total stranger nine years ago. (Not this review, I might add). They don't seem to realise that you can read something online that you disagree with--and just go on with your life.
I can't believe you got called a "snowflake" Valarie. It's such a stupid throwaway insult that older people try to use on younger ones. So lame! You are all so reasonable and wise. What in the world makes people tick to write some of the hateful crap they write over a book review?
Bizarre!
They're just losers with too much time on their hands and no presence in real life, this is the only way they can feel "powerful"I still hate being on the receiving end, sorry you have to deal with this shit show Jilly!
Oh the joys of the internet, people feel powerful behind the screen and at liberty to condemn others, trolling, cowards because when push comes to shove they wouldn't say it to your face.Keep on writing your reviews, their jealous you have so many followers.

I stopped reading the series since the fandom was so intense. You could not have a different opinion or the would tear you apart. It was nuts haha.
Most fandoms can get intense. I'd recommend not getting too deep into them, and just enjoying the books.Don't let people ruin good entertainment for you.

The books ran their course on me anyways. It was the same plot over and over with different characters. I was outgrowing them but holding out hope for something different since I was in sooo deep in the series (on book like 60 something haha). So it made me say "fuck it" and walk away.
Dee wrote: "Keep on writing your reviews, their jealous you have so many followers."This is exactly it. Putting more effort into tearing others down than in having their own reviews or friends.
Thanks, y'all. And that is the funny thing - it's always people with no reviews who attack those of us who do review the fiercest. Weird.

A friendly reminder: the word you are looking for is 'trolls'.

The Just-About-Cocky Ms M wrote: "Definitely report the comment; don't just flag it. GR does not approve of ad hominem attacks by trolls, or in my case, trolling authors."You had an author troll you? Ugh! That's such a bad idea for them!
The Just-About-Cocky Ms M wrote: "Indeed I did, and he was one who was/is traditionally published with a large following rather than some poor little SPA. It was quite a vicious personal attack, including using my real name which I..."Wow! That is shocking! Especially to put out your real name? That's vicious. Will you tell me who it is? I'd like to avoid him.
Well, now I know who to avoid. I've never read the Gortner books, but I read the Anne Rice ones when I was younger. Why would we need to put out our real names (although mine is close)? The internet is full of pseudonyms. The only reason they would want that is to personally attack people.
Jilly wrote: "Why would we need to put out our real names (although mine is close)? The internet is full of pseudonyms. Because that's something that anyone has time for. They want people's identity info for intimidation - you know, because if you can ruin THEIR career/sales with your negative opinions, they should be able to ruin yours.
And we all know that authors never publish under anything but their own real name.
