So much is happening that I’m either left confused and need to read again, or I get whiplash. It’s still a well-written story with a unique concept. Shadow knows that Wednesday is Odin—something I hadn’t realized until a chapter or two back, embarrassingly—and I wonder how he’ll react to him now.

I knew who all the Egyptian gods were—thanks, Rick Riordan—and they’re my favorite of all the gods Shadow has met. I smiled when Mr. Ibis said they work at a funeral home.

Mad Sweeney is dead, and Wednesday is untrustworthy. I’ve only liked Wednesday for his name, and that too has lost my interest. He can take his fetish for blonde-haired, blue-eyed, virgin girls and vanish from the thoughts of modern society.
