Murilo Silva What do you think about the book so far? I read The Medieval Society by this author, I really didn’t like it. It wasn’t chronologically organized or organized at all.

Actually, I must say that it is not a bad book at all. True, It does not follow a strict chronological sequence, nor does it delve much into the high politics of the period, so it is recommended only after reading a more traditional, structured book.
It mostly follows a thematic approach, but it covers neatly and with good accuracy many aspects of the period, including society, religion, school and scholarship, travel, cities and towns, the new monastic orders and the evolution of papacy, kingship and government etc.
There is some space allocated to the main political developments (there are specific chapters on the Normans, England, the Empire etc.) and some of these chapters (especially the one on France) are too rushed and could definitely be improved upon.
Overall, however, it is a pretty good book.
