Jilly added a status update
Newest hate comments to Jilly are on this review and it's a long old rant on how horrible I am.
Highlights:
Being called a psychopath AND sociopath
Being told that it's unbelievable that a man would love me.

This is all because I was angry that a man was verbally & physically abusive in a book.
If that's not irony...

Sassá Incredible! I always liked this site because I found a democratic space. In Brazil it is no different, unfortunately. Sorry for the mistakes because I used Google translator.

Right? Google translate did a good job this time. I wouldn't have even known you used it.
Thanks for the support, Sassa! :)

Sassá You're welcome. :) I hate people who do not respect other people's reviews.

Absolutelyred I will never understand the motivation of trolls. Keep up the reviews Jilly, we like you as you are!

Leigh WOW!!! What a moron.

Lynda Koenig You know you're doing something right when the small minded people have to try to bring you down to their level. I've read a lot of bad reviews on books I loved, but never once did I feel the need to lash out at the reviewer.

If you ever stop your awesome reviews, I don't know how I'll decide what (not) to read next!

Shania Lynda wrote: "...I've read a lot of bad reviews on books I loved, but never once did I feel the need to lash out at the reviewer..."

Exactly! I'm the same. I've read negative reviews for lots of books I've enjoyed, occasionally I go and read them on purpose. I even follow a few people that have hated (maybe too strong a word...) many, many books that I've liked. Because sometimes it's nice to see a different perspective.

I get how, for some people, it might be disappointing. If it's a book you loved of course you want everyone else to love it too. But isn't it nice to get out of your echo chamber every once in a while.

I'm more of a silent follower, but I wanted to say something because it's really shitty how reviewers get abuse from some people, just because they had a different opinion about a book, movie, etc.
I'm sorry, Jilly, that some people are shitheads.

Scott Ugh. I thought this site was largely free of broflakes, but sadly they're everywhere. Great review btw.

Oh my gosh. This is a groundbreaking idea, Shania! lol!
IKR? I don't have a problem at all when people comment that they disagree with my opinion. I know that I have a lot of books that I like or hate and my friends have the opposite opinion. It would be ridiculous if I got personally offended when we didn't agree.

Aww, thanks red! Makes my heart feel all warm and fuzzy inside...
Wait, is that normal? Should I call 911?
:D

Lynda! Someone who actually ends up agreeing with my book opinions. Now, just a thought for you... if I'm a psychopath, like my troll contends, and you agree with me, what does that make you? lol! I'm so glad I'm not alone in my psychosis. Welcome, Lynda. I hear that we have cookies here.

Nancy D Miz-Firefly aka Sparky My what an insightful piece of commentary. I wonder who broke his crayons?

Whomever it was, I'm guessing she had her reasons.
Lol!

(view spoiler)is an androgynous name now??? Man I hate it when I miss the memo. Some days I'm too old to interact with anyone under the age of 30.

message 15: by Elena (new)

Elena I especially love how he seems to be willing to believe that your threat of maiming men who grab your elbow might indeed be a hyperbole: how astute!

And he's clearly very worried about your husband, Jilly: he must be a nice person after all. Now, if you and Carol would just stop it with your unseemly flirting.

[spoilers..."

I'm sure Tom is a guy who either can't get a woman or had a woman not put up with his ... um.... manly... ways? ;)

The crayon-breaker is obviously a woman! lol!

ROFL!! Carol! We're busted! Tom caught on to us!

Because if two women interact with each other in complimentary ways instead of cat-fighting over men, they must be lesbians, right?

This guy's thought-process is astounding! I'm guessing the inside of his brain looks like a cave.

Payal Ah, to be so easily triggered by a review, he must be a special little snowflake, eh?

Very special. Look at how much he was able to psychoanalyze me from my review of a book I hated. It's like looking into a mirror of my soul..... :)

*LMBO!*

Yeah, I don't think so, Jilly!

For a smile and much closer to the truth of things, methinks...

Enjoy your reviews and your wild sense of humor, lady.

Thanks, always, for the laughs! 😁

Nefeli Not that this particularly matters, but I noticed that he's also trying to appear really smart by using Latin phrases and stuff, and he says "ad nauseum" instead of "ad nauseam". Like, dude, shut up. On so many levels, just shut up.

message 22: by h o l l i s (new)

h o l l i s a psychopath AND a sociopath? damn, Jilly. stop being an overachiever.

I noticed too. He doesn't seem to realize that you can use the best grammar and vocabulary, but if your message is that of a dumbass, you're still coming across as a dumbass. ;D

Kelly (and the Book Boar) You being both a psychopath AND a sociopath is one of the main things I love about you. That guy can go suck turtles.

Lol! Thank you! Also, he will only suck turtles who are ladylike. No ill-mannered feminist turtles!

Catherine We love you Jilly. We don’t have to always agree with you, but you always make it real and exciting to see what you have to say next!

Haha! You totally don't have to agree with me. I have lots of friends who like books I hate and vice versa. I still love them all. <3
