Imagery and mood remind me of the German village in “The Cannibal” by John Hawkes. Crude iconography of institutions and cemeteries. The crazed and the dead. The only light moonlight or that of a guttering, canted candle. Terrible (or is it terrific?) and horrible (or is it horrific?) and lovely stuff.
