So far I’m loving Romanov, a Romanov tale with a magical spin from the perspective of Anastasia. Like The Bear and the Nightingale, Romanov is great at weaving Russian culture into the story. A far cry from the cultural appropriation in the Leigh Bardugo “Grishaverse” series. I still wish there were more Russian or Russian American YA authors, but this is a great start.
