Fun so far, but why does the author feel the need to note that bison men have human women in every town? Weird. Anyway, I'm more of a first- and second-edition Gamma World person, so I'm not as jazzed about mentally activated nanobot machine guns on your arms, but it does fit the manic later editions of the game. The characters are fun, and the set up (crazed, irradiated Oklahoma) is entertaining. Boomer Sooner?

Some think Odom's a hack writer but I've enjoyed several of his novels and don't agree whatsoever. I was a 1st edition Gamma World player back in the day. I almost picked this up and a bit surprised to see this update tbh and mainly because I didn't realize Gamma World even had any modern-day fans. Cool!

There's a couple of Gamma World Facebook groups that are interesting. I haven't played since the 80s but always loved the idea of the game as much as the game itself (and I love 60s-70s post-apoc stuff (and some newer stuff). It's worth a read (so far) as is the other GW novel. Odom's pretty by-the-book, not exactly poetry. I'll try not to hold those Left Behind sequels or whatever they were against him.
