He picked up his phone and saw several missed texts from Aleck.
Stay away from the pub for the next couple hours, she's here.
Ian frowned. She? Sarah?
And that would be Sarah in case you're a bit daft.
His lips quirked.
Apparently she's staying for at least a month, it's a condition of the will if she's to inherit the house. And I swear I must've grown a vagina with all my gossiping.

"It's funny, actually. I used to tell Colin that marriage was for suckers and that I'd never throw myself under that bus. But I would do it for you."
"Throw yourself under the bus?" She repeated with slow deliberation. "Marrying me would be equivalent to throwing yourself under a bus?"
"Yes. Wait, what?" Ian blinked and ran back in his head what he'd said. His excitement faded instantly.
Ah shite.

"Oh, Kenzie…I know you mean well. But you've got to let it go."
"What's keeping you two from being together?"
"What's not?" Sarah hesitated. "There's just so much. We don't stand a chance."
"You guys have an amazing chemistry."
"Yes, well so do Mentos and diet soda, but they don't last forever. In the end you're just left with a complete mess."

Maybe he should've just called in sick. Because he sure as hell felt pretty crappy now.
Which is ironic, because he woke up happy as a clam.
Happy was pretty much an understatement. This morning he felt like the hero in some animated love story. It was all sunshine and roses. He could've been using the toilet and birds would've been singing a love song in the background.

"Fifteen years?" She paused at the bathroom door and turned to look at him. "You lost your virginity at fourteen?"
"Aye." He grinned. "A going away from Scotland present from my neighbor, Mrs. Robinson."
Sarah snorted. "How original. I suppose she was an older woman?"
"How'd you know?"
"Lucky guess."
"She was divorced. Quite lovely and with jugs-"
"Don't need to hear it. Thanks." She waved a hand in his face.
