Personally, I think this is a fairly quick read. I remember reading it for this book-club-ish type thing, where everyone would gather to read the book at the meeting itself, then talk about it. I read ahead and finished the book first.
But really, The Rithmatist is a very, very enjoyable book, and I hope you enjoy it. Regardless of whether you do end up liking it, or not, I would still recommend Skyward (by the same author) to read somewhere in the near future.
