In a completely unforeseen turn of events, the enemy of the church became its advocate. The persecutor became the preacher. In one moment, the outsider became the insider. Saul became Paul. And the trajectory of his life and the life of the church would forever change.

The tomb wasn’t opened so He could get out, but so that you and I could go in. It was rolled away so that we could see that Death is defeated, that nothing can separate us from God: no rock, no temple curtain, no sin, no death, no fear! Nothing can separate you and me from the love of God found in the risen Jesus.

The miracles of Jesus are yet another way that God demonstrates that He is WITH those who are powerless, but full of faith. They are a small pulling back of the curtain between heaven and earth. They are the alchemy of divinity meeting humanity. They are as purposeful as they are powerful, and they always reveal the heart of a God who is not only with us . . . but for us.

Jesus is God’s living reminder that even though the world had spent generation after generation wandering through the Valley of BETWEEN, God had never left them or forgotten them. He was in fact present, even though at times He seemed distant. He was WITH them then . . . and He is WITH us now.

Love is what it was always all about. Every letter of every law was written in love — loving God, loving others, loving your life. This is the point. Every covenant and commandment is an act of a God going before and between His people and their sin.
