The preface of "Philosophy as Metanoetics," is one of the most beautiful philosophical prefaces I have ever read. It has the depth of the preface in Hegel's Phenomenology, but in a much simple and more fluid style. Metanoetics is, essentially, repentance or the path of regret and, in some ways, Tanabe's vision is akin to Kierkegaard or even to Blondel's philosophy of action.

Philosophy as Metanoetics is one of the most intimate, and repentant works of philosophy I have ever read.
