After a short boring patch with doughnus, the plot moved quickly, all the way to the end.
Good little mystery. Really had me thinking. Who is the bad guy, really? Romance is 4 stars, mystery is 5 stars, history is 4.5 stars. Characterization, including secondary characters, 5 stars.

Absorbing so far! So, for 10 years, Grace works in a bakery owned by the Wilsons. She is kind to crusty old Lord Thomson, Marquis of Quarle, whose bastard son, a Yankee sea captain, is in Dartmoor prison, along with his sailing master, Robert Inman.

The Honourable Miss Grace Curtis, orphaned, and homeless, but willing to work.
"Her two bags packed, Grace had lain awake all night in her room, teasing herself with the one plan in her mind. She discarded it, reclaimed it, discarded it again, then shouldered it for the final time after breakfast. She straightened her shoulders, picked up her valise and walked away from her home of eighteen years." (Nicely said!!)
