"Just think: if we were able, by some Herculean effort, to obey the law and thereby ingratiate ourselves before the Lord, the glory, at least in part, would belong to us, wouldn't it? Our works, our determination, our wisdom, and our innate goodness would be magnified. And His incarnation, perfect life, sacrificial death, resurrection, and ascension would be diminished in our eyes."
