Hi Murilo - Yes, it is a confusing title unless you know something about Jeanette's strict upbringing by her fundamentalist Christian mother. Her (adoptive) mother believed that a child should conform to other people's expectations (normality) rather than seek happiness by fulfilling their own desires. In other words, 'keeping up appearances' instead of being true to oneself.
