First thrilled by the dexterity and rush to the head brilliance of Jim Crace's writing in All That Follows; then devastated by Martin Kimani's piece on the psychology of Rwandan genocidaires; brought back up again w Ruchir Joshi's illuminating portrait of 3 Indian workers; only to come crashing down again w V V Ganeshananthan's story about a young medic who returns home from her voluntary service w the Tamil Tigers.

Discovered so many wonderful new writers through this edition of Granta. Brad Watson, Donald Ray Pollock, Daniel Allarcon and Julian Barnes are definitely the pick of the lot so far. Plenty more to come. And then there's all of Granta 110-121 to come. I can't keep up.

So far every single page has hit the spot! Daniel Alarcon's penetrating analysis of modern day Peru through the problem of book piracy; Donald Ray Pollock's evocative descriptions of his job at a paper mill; and Steven Hall's playful essay on our anthropomorphism of robots. This is why I love Granta.
