An awful lot of alliteration in “Ode to Silence”—“Lacking a sunny southern slope in northern Sicily,/With sullen pupils focused on a dream,/Stares on the stagnant stream”—early poem.

Ebb from “Second April”—so sad.

“Alms”—begging for crumbs of affection from a cold distant lover.

“My no longer cherished,/Need we say it was not love./Now that love has perished?”—Passer Mortuus Est in Second April

“Elegy Before Death” is a much, much better expression of the same sentiment in a poem I wrote to Mark when we were dating! Cool!

“The Blue-Flag in the Bog” is not what I expected.

I like this (from “Spring”): “Life in itself/Is nothing,/An empty cup, a flight of uncarpeted stairs.”
