mark monday added a status update
Hello! Now that Feedback is gone, any suggestions on letting GR staff know about mass fake accounts? I recently received 25+ likes on an old review for Wasp Factory. I was curious what was driving these new likes, and saw that all of these accounts were created in June 2019, all but 1 had zero friends, no comments, and were liking the same books. I love likes, but hate phonies. And I'm too lazy to flag each account!

mark monday A fan club of Russian bots or of one person who really should get out more and stop making phony profiles! I'm not sure which of those I prefer...

Aether Real Eeek. Probably neither.
A lot of people seem to have too much time on their hands and enjoy messing with others, or seems.
What a sad existence of wasted potential.

mark monday 2 more came in just as I wrote this post!

very strange. and as with the others, liking specific reviews from various reviewers, not just mine.

Jim only two comments from me:
don't be too quick to judge accounts with few or zero friends, please. the rest of the accounts' quirks seem pretty fishy though.
:)

mark monday c'mon, I would never judge that! it's the fact that these accounts all share the same traits: zero friends (except for one), created in June 2019, zero comments, all liking the same reviews.

mark monday True!

Alexandra I use the Contact Us form under Help. Send them as much info as you can, including links of the profiles you've found. They're really slow, but they usually do clean up at least what is reported, eventually.

but actually I'm not going to do anything about it, and have pulled this post from my feed (surprised you found it actually, but maybe because I didn't delete it? something I'm u..."

I've seen it :D And I understand. I recently reported something similar, hundreds of sock accounts stemming from one author, but it's a female, so likely a different person.

BTW I found this by looking through friends of a mutual friend, it displays recent Status there. Mystery solved, I hope.

Anyway, if you run into something similar you do want to report you've got my suggestion :D It's annoying to see GR polluted with all that mess.

Delete away!
