thinks about how sweet it might feel to be soft again/ thinks about thawing like ice/ thinks about budding like spring/ thinks about laughing until it doesn’t hurt to breathe anymore/ thinks about how hard it is to admit that she wants things because it means she might not get them

then wants things anyway

From SMALL GHOST DOESN’T FEEL GOOD:

all she knows
is that she’s tired of letting the things she doesn’t forgive herself for
pile up like leaves in the autumn

you know it gets to a point where you can rake and rake and rake
but the leaves just keep coming down
and children just keep making games out of running through them

it’s so easy to feel trampled by absolutely nothing

From SMALL GHOST DOESN’T ALWAYS HAVE BAD DAYS:

doesn’t always wake up feeling like she’s six feet under
doesn’t always move through life like she’s underwater
doesn’t always have to remind herself to smile at people
doesn’t always feel crushed under the weight of something

it’s hard to watch you clean up messes when she feels like one herself
