Stories like these fill me with a kind of wistfulness. I am drawn to the idea of humans living their earthly, often difficult, lives accompanied on the journey by mystical beings. Trolls who are fearsome and stupid; Elvin folk who live in a realm of their own, yet come and go to help or hinder as their whim dictates. The interactions spellbind me. The depth of “the world” in all its levels is intriguing.
