Angie Lisle In a lot of ways, this makes me think of Firefly with the way it mixes genres. If the old west had a love child with pirates and you threw the offspring into the American Civil War...that's this book.

Here are some of the points I've noted for my review:

The narrative is strange - he utilizes second person to quickly move through war details in the background. It took me a little while to get into it, but last night, I couldn't put it down.

I know nothing about Florida during the Civil War so it's all new info, which is interesting.

It's being billed with a romance - but this isn't a wishy-washy type romance. The romance isn't overdone; it's not irritating me. It's realistic; not the typical southern-belle crap.

And the book utilizes Christianity - again, in a realistic portrayal. My exact note last night was that it depicts how the religion can be used by either side -good or bad- to justify the means. Which I like. A lot.
