I love this book.

"Now, almost a year later, Emerson felt himself pulled in several directions at once. He felt overwhelmed by books. ... He was no longer dazzled by the lure of study. He rather liked Hobbes for saying 'If I had read as much as other men I should be as ignorant.'"

The life story is as interesting to me as his writing has been stirring.
