I just can't do it, I'm sorry.

You know what I really want to see? Humanity/The Committee making all these plans and intrigue, going through all this trouble to ready themselves for First Contact, and then in the final chapter, the aliens just blow right by them without so much as a wave, to get to the whales who were the ones they've been trying to contact all along.

I guess one should take it as high praise that a sci-fi legend would like your work enough to steal from you. And clearly, Gene Roddenberry must have loved this book. The character of Geordi La Forge is a blatant ripoff of Hoshi Aronson, and the basic premise of Star Tek IV: The Voyage Home is lifted form these pages. So it seems at this point, anyway.

So far they have not exactly CONFIRMED my suspicion that David Kadin is and artificial intelligence, but they haven't exactly DENIED it either. And all clues seem to point the same direction.

Given that Mozy has never met David in person, and given that Hoshi doesn't want her to (for more reasons than just his own love for her) and given that Hoshi is admittedly hiding secrets about David, I'm gonna go ahead and throw out my first guess. David ain't human. Maybe a robot, maybe an alien, maybe an AI of some other type, but normal human man, he ain't. There, I said it, and I'd say it again if I had to.
