Mr. Today died and all of Artime disappeared and everything he created. Alex found everyone when they got lost and they had the spiky necklaces in their necks and he met up with Sean. Alex hid in a shack and provided water to the soldiers. Aaron got half the power of quill and was winning the war.

Alex has made a new spell called heart attack. When he tried it on someone it made them pass out and it looked like they had died but they didn't. When Alex was going to tell his friends he saw a raft floating onto the shore. It had two people on it very sunburned and looked dead but they were still alive. They had these collar around their necks with spikes in them. Aaron had formed a big group and got two pistols.

In the book Mr. Today kept meeting with Alex and Launi would not talk to him and when she finally did Alex thought that she was mad because he said no to rule Artime but she was mad because she thought she should rule Artime. Mr. Today also showed Alex his Treasure room with all kinds of random things in it. Then Artime got attacked by wanteds and Arija died in the battle which was a good character.
