I LOVE this movie -- I haven't read the book, though.

I read the book because I saw the movie (several times now). I didn't even know the movie was based on a book when it was in theaters. Then I saw it was and loved it so much, I HAD to read the book.

I need to watch the movie again, but right now, my thoughts are that neither is better than the other. The book is very different. Same basic story and everything, but there's so much in the book that just could NOT be transferred to the movie. It won a Pullitzer and definitely deserved it. Great writing and a quick read, too.
