Lichtman clings too tightly to his references and sometimes meanders on general points. I'm not surprised this book hasn't been republished it's a little lightweight on the actual ideas proposed, although Lichtman has a strong grasp of Marx and Freud he isn't great at actually providing a comprehensive picture of what a Marxist Psychology would look like. Rather, this books is a prolegomena for someone else to that..

Decent perspective on the FreudoMarxist movement, wherein Lichtman lays out the 'orthodox' or rather original positions of both to try and find ruptures and overlap between the two sociologies.
