Mr Wilkerson says to Mrs Denning " cut to the chase" this saying would NOT have been used in this time period as it us an allusion to a movie..... the correct saying would be " cut through to the chafe" which alludes to the cutting of wheat.... the editors did a disservice to the author ( or whoever is charged with correcting inconsistencies) kind of ruined it for me ...
