And now it's being perfectly reasonable out of the blue

I am unreasonably frustrated by books like this. I feel they lack both the spiritual depth to cause genuine growth, nor do they have counseling value about how to communicate with and understand your spouse. What I'm left with is a handful of scriptures, a whole heap of stereotypes, and an unhealthy version of selfless love and submission. Wives would be so much better off spending this reading time in scripture.
