Compelling read on how the AIDS virus started, the bureaucracy of the Fed to acknowledge, fund and educate as well as the internal fighting of gay constituencies and city public health officials to educate and protect people who were actively dying and those who were getting infected. The virus broke out in the gay communities in the early 80s and we heard nothing for ~4 years. Horrible way to die.
