For someone from Alaska, it's a weird thing to be reading a book where you can count the days or hours since you last were physically at the locations mentioned.
It's even more unsettling when what you're reading happens to be a true crime book detailing the doings of a serial killer.
There aren't any ridiculous myths to hide behind and laugh at (everyone living in igloos, riding polar bears, etc), either.
