I am weary of any Pagan author who talks about a single, ancient religion or anything like that, spanning a land mass the size even of Ireland. And Knight just did.

Just picked this back up for the day. So far: environmental scare tactics and misinformation, generalizing the Fae to one kind of being, and acting as though it's easy to have good Fae, or all Fae are the same. I can't believe I once LOVED this book.

I've hit my stopping place for tonight. There is just too much to cover in these updates, so my review will be long and probably become a blog post too.

So she's managed to come off as insulting and dim-witted, specifically in her comments on travel to the Fae realms. She also didn't mention DEADLY fae until page 28. Bit late if you ask me. There needs to be a disclaimer to that affect at the beginning of any Fae-based text!

It took until page 22 to find anything I really agreed with, other than her etymology of 'faery' which was not without flaws, and her description of the Norse fates.

Problems so far: A list of herbs/plants she associates with the Fae with no reasons given, no mention of how DANGEROUS Fae can be until p.13, and lots of "ancient practice" references but no bibliography or source citation. Seems very slipshod to me.
