I knew FV was bad, but I had no idea it was THIS bad -
"Key Assessment: Some Federal Vision proponents deny a personal, supernatural regeneration, while others are willing to accept the denial of such regeneration as an intramural debate of no consequence." pg. 44

Well this is telling: "True faith means law-obedience, and obedience spells power and blessing." Rushdoony in the foreword to Bahnsen's book on theonomy. pg. 192. A "decidedly Federal Vision interpretation of faith."

Read the section on theonomy after yesterday's sermon on Romans 13. None of the reformed confessions support theonomy. "emphasis on the abiding validity of all the Old Testament laws necessarily reduces the importance of the gospel." pg. 191

Union with Christ in baptism sounds like baptismal regeneration to me and bears 0 resemblance to the Presbyterian view of paedobaptism. Pelagius held the former position, which isn't a very good recommendation.
Paedocommunion arises from this faulty view of baptism which is based on a faulty view of the gospel.

FV gets worse as I go further in this book. I'm grieved that James White is minimizing the problem and even going so far to say that FV is the outworking of Presbyterianism. But Reformed Theology is bi-covenantal by nature. How can a monocovenantal system that does not recognize a law/gospel distinction be Reformed?

"If regeneration is not a supernatural act of God, then the subjective experience of receptive grace in the inner man is not needed. It is not enough, therefore, that the adherents of the Federal Vision speak about grace. What do they mean when they use the word grace?" pg. 61
What indeed.

"Like so many things about the Federal Vision, they promote confusion by making theologically imprecise statements."
Which should be warning sign.
